(POCATELLO, ID) – Pocatello mayor Brian Blad is trying to keep the Heinz plant from shutting down. . Blad has requested a meeting with Heinz executives, including Warren Buffett, in an effort to save the plant and the jobs of 410 employees. Blad says the facility has a strong reputation within the company, and is hoping that he can get officials to reconsider their consolidation plans. Heinz announced the closure last week as part of a move to reduce shipping costs. In the meantime, another, unnamed food-production company has expressed interest in moving into the plant.
