Blue Jackets Place MacKenzie on IR
Published at(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — The Columbus Blue Jackets placed center Derek MacKenzie on injured reserve retroactive to Nov. 22 due to a strained back.
In 22 games this season, the 31-year-old MacKenzie has two goals and one assist.
MacKenzie is eligible to return Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets have claimed 24-year-old winger Corey Tropp off waivers.
Tropp, who missed most of last season with a knee injury, had one assist in nine games with the Buffalo Sabres this season before being placed on waivers.
The Blue Jackets (9-13-3, 21pts) currently sit five points behind Washington for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
