(DRIGGS, ID) – Parents of students at Teton High School are upset about a controversial book being assigned to their teenagers.Principal Frank Mello says he’s had to take the book “Bless Me, Ultima” off the curriculum because too many parents complained about the coming-of-age plot, which includes elements of sex and graphic violence. The book, which is recognized as an important contribution to Mexican literature, is also among the most protested books in high schools around the country. Mello says a few copies of the book can still be checked out in the school library.
