Cavaliers’ Point Guard Kyrie Irving to Play through Broken Nose

Chris Chambers/Getty Images(CLEVELAND) — A broken nose won’t keep Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving out of action, as he still plans on playing despite the injury.
On Wednesday night, Irving suffered a “minimally displaced right nasal fracture” that will cause Irving to wear a mask during games for the foreseeable future.
“I think it’s probably going to be two weeks, but however long they think it’s necessary, I’m going to wear it. I’m blessed enough that I can still go out and play.”
The mask clearly didn’t bother Irving much on Friday night, as he was still able to score 18 points while dishing out 10 assists against the Bobcats.
“It hurt pretty bad, but the only thing I was worried about was my appearance,” Irving said after the game.
Even though Irving is one of the more talented young players in the NBA, he has struggled with injuries during his short career.
He has missed 38 games since his rookie year with shoulder, knee, and hand injuries and a concussion.
