(POCATELLO, ID) – Officials in Bannock County gathered together Saturday to honor a Pocatello man who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for combat actions in Korea. November 2 has been declared county-wide as James Edmund Johnson Day. Marine Sgt. Johnson was only 24 years old when he fell on a battlefield in 1950. His daughter and grandson received commemorative plaques honoring Johnson, who is the only person from Bannock County to have been awarded the nation’s highest military decoration. Organizers felt it was important to remember Johnson’s contribution to the country, and his historical significance for the area
