(NEW YORK) — The game of chess and the rubber duck were inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame on Thursday.
They bested 10 other finalists — including bubbles, little green army men and the Magic 8 ball — to claim the two spots. A national selection committee comprised of 23 toy experts made the final decision despite results from online polls.
Judges cited the rubber duck’s bright color, irresistible squeak and ability to expand our sense of childhood wonder.
