(NEW YORK) — It is no secret that there are numerous NBA teams who are looking to get to the top, but not in standings, but the top pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. With all the talk about tanking, Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski thinks that tanking is wrong.
Kansas’ Andrew Wiggins, Kentucky’s Julius Randle, and Duke’s Jabari Parker are the top prizes in the upcoming draft and some teams have positioned themselves to try and land one of those players by putting out inferior rosters.
Krzyzewski, Parker’s coach, is not a fan of teams tanking.
"As an American, I wouldn’t like to think that an American team would want to lose or create situations where you want to lose,” Krzyzewski said. “I can’t even fathom — I can’t go there. I can’t even believe that would happen. Maybe I’m naive and I’m going to read a fairy tale after this.”
Numerous scouts believe this 2014 NBA Draft will be one of the deepest classes in over a decade.
