District Speaks Out About Coach’s Dismissal

(POCATELLO, ID) – Officials from School District are finally speaking out about the firing of Pocatello High School girls’ basketball coach Laraine Cook.  The district is claiming that they had a legal obligation to fire Cook, because they believe she may have violated the Code of Ethics for the Idaho Professional Educators. Over the summer, Cook uploaded a controversial Facebook photo of herself on vacation with football coach Tom Harrison. The picture shows Harrison touching Cook’s chest. Though Harrison was reprimanded, he was not fired. Cook’s teaching certificate is now under review by the state’s Professional Standards Commission.
