However, researchers at Harvard University’s School of Public Health maintain that the beta-carotene found in the vegetable has another important property — mainly, it helps sperm swim.

Based on their study of men from Rochester, N.Y., college campuses, those eating the most carrots enjoyed the best sperm mobility.

While sweet potatoes and melons were also found to enhance the quantity and quality of sperm, carrots actually improved sperm performance by between 6.5 and 8 percent, the study claimed.

In another finding, the Harvard researchers said that men who consume tomatoes which are rich in lycopene have less abnormally shaped sperm.
