(MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.) — Freshman running back Trey Edmunds scored four touchdowns as Virginia Tech (7-3; 4-2 ACC) stopped (14) Miami (7-2; 3-2 ACC) Saturday night, 42-24.
Edmunds scored his first two touchdowns in the first quarter which gave the Hokies a 14-7 lead. He would add a third score at 13:01 into the second quarter on a four yard run, giving VA Tech a 21-7 advantage.
Edmunds’ fourth touchdown came on a one yard run at 11:32 into the fourth quarter, giving the Hokies an 18 point lead over Miami. He would finish the game with 74 rushing yards on 14 carries.
Virginia Tech’s passing game was just as effective as senior quarterback Logan Thomas went 25 of 31 for 366 yards and two touchdowns.
Miami had two fumbles in the first quarter, which Virginia Tech capitalized on with two touchdowns.
