“They try to give me a week — three, four, six,” Gasol said when asked about his recovery time. “I don’t care what number they say, I told them as soon as I can put my foot down on the floor and I can walk, I’m going to rush it and speed the process.”

Gasol suffered an MCL sprain that will keep him out indefinitely this season. Going back to the 2010-2011 season, Gasol has missed just five games over the span.

Gasol is the NBA’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year as he has emerged as one of the best big men in the NBA. In 13 games this season, the 28-year-old Gasol averaged 16.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.

With the absence of Gasol, Ed Davis and Kosta Koufos are expected to see an increase in minutes.
