Jordan Lynch Shines as Northern Illinois Improves to 10-0
Published at(DEKALB, Ill.) — Jordan Lynch threw for two touchdown passes while running for two more, and No. 15 Northern Illinois improved to 10-0 with a 48-27 win over Ball State Wednesday night.
Lynch connected with Da’Ron Brown for a 36-yard score with 5:49 remaining to break a 27-27 tie, and the Huskies (10-0, 6-0 Mid-American) ran the nation’s longest active home winning streak to 25. They have also won 23-straight conference games.
The win helped preserve Northern Illinois’ hopes for a second consecutive BCS bowl bid.
Keith Wenning passed for 349 yards with one touchdown and one interception for Ball State, (9-2, 6-1) who had their seven-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Huskies.
Lynch scored on a 16-yard run with 1:26 left to seal the win. On Ball State’s final possession, Joe Windsor picked off Wenning and returned it 49 yards for a touchdown to provide the final scoring margin.
