Kerry to Brief Senate Banking Committee on Iran Negotiations
Published at(WASHINGTON) — Secretary of State John Kerry plans to address the Senate Banking Committee on the negotiations regarding Iran that took place in Geneva last week.
A committee aide tells ABC News that Kerry will address the Senate Banking Committee “later this week.”
The chairman of the committee, Tim Johnson, D-S.D., will not make a final decision regarding additional sanctions against Iran until after the briefing.
Last week, some in Congress discussed the possibility of levying new sanctions against the Iranian government. The Obama administration, however, urged Congress not to pass sanctions before Kerry’s meetings in Geneva.
