In May, Simpson took the witness stand in a Las Vegas courtroom, claiming he was wrongly convicted when he was sent to prison for up to 33 years for a hotel room armed robbery.

“I followed what I thought [was] the law. I didn’t break into anybody’s room,” Simpson said at the time.

Now six months later, in a 101-page ruling, the judge has found Simpson’s claim that he was misrepresented by his attorney in 2008 lacks merit.

With Nevada’s Supreme Court already turning down Simpson’s previous appeals, this was seen as a last-ditch effort for the former running back to get out of prison. After Tuesday’s decision, however, Simpson’s conviction stands and he’ll remain in a Nevada prison.
