Obama Pardons, Maybe Blesses National Turkey

ABC News(WASHINGTON) — President Obama pardoned two turkeys Wednesday during the annual ceremony at the White House.
When it came time to make the actual pardon of Popcorn, the president appeared to add an extra measure — he seemed to bless the turkey. Was it absolution? A benediction? A sort of turkey high-five? Whatever it was, Popcorn looked relieved to be freed from an otherwise utensil-filled end.
Earlier, Popcorn beat out the other turkey, Caramel, in a White House-staged battle for the title of National Thanksgiving Turkey.
“The competition was stiff but we can officially declare that Popcorn is the winner, proving … that even a turkey with a funny name can find a place in politics,” Obama said.
