The company says the defect causes some of the pouches to swell and the contents to spoil. Plum Organics said the defect is not dangerous, but does make the affected foods taste sour.

Plum Organics President Neil Grimmer said in a statement, “Nothing is more important to us than providing the best nutrition for the little ones we serve. Over the years, Plum has worked hard to earn the trust of parents, and we fully intend on maintaining that trust. We are taking every action to ensure that our highest standards are being met and that we are providing only the best nutrition for our children and yours.”

The recalled products have “best by” dates ranging from Aug. 5 to Dec. 8, 2014. Plum Organics asks consumers who have affected products to call the company hotline at 866-495-3774.
