McGloin will continue to start as long as he remains productive, even if it means having Terrelle Pryor sitting on the bench. Pryor has started eight games this season.

“This is a production business, I’ve said that before,” Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said. “One of the thing’s we’ve tried to create here is an atmosphere of competition. If you go out and you perform and you make plays, you continue to get opportunities to continue to go out and perform and make plays. Matt did that last week. He’s going to get another opportunity this week. We’ll see how it goes.”

McGloin’s path to being an NFL starter has been rather unconventional. He was an undrafted rookie free agent after he was a walk-on at Penn State. The 23-year-old McGloin started for three seasons at Penn State.

He even entered the season as the team’s fourth-string quarterback, but demonstrated to coaches that he deserved a shot at starting.

In his first NFL start, McGloin completed 18 of 27 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns.
