The only three points by the Jets (5-6) came in the first quarter when Nick Folk hit a 27-yard field goal.

Baltimore (5-6) kicked four field goals and Joe Flacco hit Jacoby Jones with a 66-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

“What can you say about our defense?” coach John Harbaugh said. “It was a dominant defensive performance.”

The Jets lost their second straight game for the first time this season.

“We’ve got to be more efficient on third down. That’s a big reason (for) the struggles. I thought we dropped too many balls, and that’s where it started offensively,” Jets head coach Rex Ryan said of the team’s stuggles on Sunday.  “On defense, when you’re playing in a game like that, you got to be sound, you got to be good and it has to be for 60 minutes.”

Smith has thrown only one touchdown and has been picked off 10 times in the Jets last six games.

“Everybody always wants a new quarterback in there,” Smith said. “I just keep trying to improve and work on myself. I know I can lead this team to the playoffs.”
