Last offseason, Asik signed with the Rockets in hopes of earning more playing time, as he had been a reserve big-man for the Chicago Bulls for the previous two seasons.

In his first season in Houston, Asik played 30.0 minutes per game while averaging 10.1 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game, all career highs.

But with Dwight Howard patrolling the paint now for the Rockets, Asik appears to be a fish out of water. His playing time has been slashed, along with his productivity.

While Asik’s agent, Andy Miller, didn’t say his client wants a trade, he did acknowledge the season has been tough from the early going for him.

“I would say the situation is very frustrating right now and we’re trying to work through it,” Miller said. “For Omer, the objective has always been to continue to develop and grow as a player. That’s why he came to Houston in the first place. If that objective can’t be met, if we can’t get the right platform to grow and contribute as a player, it’s certainly frustrating.”

Asik has two years remaining on his contract.
