Connor Shaw threw for four touchdowns, Mike Davis ran for 128 yards on 15 carries as No. 14 South Carolina topped Mississippi State 34-16 on Saturday, tying a school record for most wins in a row at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Davis had his seventh 100-yard rushing game of the season, becoming the first player since Marcus Lattimore in 2010 to run for over 1,000 yards in a season.

“We couldn’t run it very well and we couldn’t throw it very well,” head coach Steve Spurrier said. But “our defense played well and got the turnovers that sort of set us up.”

South Carolina (7-2, 5-2 SEC) have beaten Mississippi State seven consecutive times.  Sophomore quarterback Dak Prescott was intercepted three times.

The Gamecocks are still in play for the SEC Eastern Division title, but they will need assistance from Missouri and Georgia in order to win it.  They finish their season with home games against Florida, Coastal Carolina, and Clemson.

Mississippi State dropped to 4-4 with the loss.
