Texans Head Coach Gary Kubiak Released from Hospital
Published at(NEW YORK) — After spending two nights in a Houston-area hospital, Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak was released Tuesday.
Kubiak collapsed while leaving the field during halftime of the Texans’ game Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. He was taken to a hospital where it was determined he had transient ischemic attack, which temporarily stops blood flow to the brain causing stroke-like symptoms.
The Texans announced that Kubiak is expected to make a full recovery but that they don’t know when he will resume coaching.
“I want to thank my family, the McNair family (owner of the team), the Texans organization, the doctors and staff at Houston Methodist and the entire Houston community for all the love and support we have received over the past three days,” Kubiak said in the statement. “I’ve been through an ordeal, and my focus now is to get back to good health.”
Houston defensive coordinator Wade Phillips took over the coaching duties Sunday when Kubiak was hospitalized, but the Texans (2-6) have yet to officially name an interim head coach for the future.
