USC’s Late Field Goal Upends (5) Stanford, 20-17

11 17 13%201st%20And%2040%20A?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1384699163697ThinkStock(LOS ANGELES) — USC (8-3; 5-2 Pac-12) upended (5) Stanford (8-2; 6-2 Pac-12), 20-17 Saturday Night on a 47-yard field goal from junior kicker Andre Heidari with 19 seconds left in the game.

With the game tied at 17, the Trojans received the ball at their own 44 yard line with 3:02 remaining in the fourth quarter. They proceeded to move into field goal territory, with the key play coming when sophomore quarterback Cody Kessler connected with sophomore wide receiver Nelson Agholor on 11 yard pass, which put the ball at Stanford’s 21 yard line.

The Cardinal were trailing by seven in the third quarter when senior running back Tyler Gaffney tied the game on a 18-yard run. He finished the game with 158 rushing yards with two touchdowns on 24 carries.

It’s the Trojans fifth win in six games under interim head coach Ed Orgeron.
