(PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas) — Freshman guard Andrew Wiggins scored a team-high 17 points to help No. 2 Kansas fend off Wake Forest in the quarterfinals of the Battle 4 Atlantis, 87-78 Thursday.
Kansas (5-0) held a 40-26 halftime lead, but Demon Deacons guard Codi Miller-McIntyre scored 20 of his game-high 26 points in the second half to push the Deacons back into the game. Miller-McIntyre’s 3-pointer with 1:58 left in the game trimmed the Jayhawks’ lead to five, but that was a close as Wake Forest got.
Frank Martin scored 13 and Perry Ellis had nine points and seven rebounds as they and their Kansas teammates advance to the semifinals to face Villanova.
