Baylor Gets Ready to Fiesta After Topping Texas
Published at(WACO, Texas) — It’s time for Baylor to Fiesta.
Bryce Petty threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 9 Baylor past No. 25 Texas 30-10 Saturday, clinching the Bears the Big 12 title and a trip to the Fiesta Bowl.
Baylor (11-1, 8-1 Big 12) also clinches its first 11-win season in school history and its first outright league title since winning the Southwest Conference in 1980.
The game was tied 3-3 at halftime, but Baylor quickly turned the tide in the second half scoring on its first three drives.
Baylor rushed for a 221 yards, led by senior running back Glasco Martin 102 yards, which included an 18-yard touchdown scamper.
Junior running back Malcom Brown ran for 131 yards and caught a touchdown for Texas (8-4, 7-2 Big 12) in the loss.
