Even though he likely won’t match the offensive void left by McCann, Doumit comes much cheaper and is still a reliable bat that should help the Braves.

Doumit, who will make $3.5 million in 2014, will split time with Evan Gattis and Gerald Laird.

A nine-year veteran, the 32-year-old Doumit hit .247 with 14 home runs and 55 RBIs. He does also offer versatility to the club during interleague contests. In 2013, he made 33 starts in the outfield, 43 starts as a catcher, and 49 starts as a DH.

Meanwhile, Gilmartin went 3-8 with a 5.74 ERA with Triple-A Gwinnett last season.

During his time with the Braves, McCann hit 20 or more home runs in seven out eight seasons as a full-time starter with the team. During the offseason, he signed a five-year, $85 million contract.
