The 6-foot-3, 230 pound Petty told reporters earlier in the week that he would “definitely be back.”

Petty hasn’t disappointed in his first season as starter. He is the leader of the nation’s top scoring offense (55.4 points per game) and has thrown 28 touchdowns and only two interceptions while rushing for 11 touchdowns. Petty also leads the nation in yards per play (9.5).

No. 9 Baylor (10-1, 7-1 Big 12) takes on No. 25 Texas on Saturday. If Baylor wins and Oklahoma State loses, Baylor will win the Big 12 title and qualify for a BCS Bowl.

Petty has a passer efficiency rating of 183.75, the second best in the nation behind Florida State’s Jameis Winston.
