Former White House National Security Adviser Tom Donilon told ABC’s This Week, “The Chinese have unilaterally undertaken a set of steps here which instead of lowering tensions, increased tensions.”

Donilon said America has been heavily vested in the region.

“For 60 years, the United States has provided the security platform on which Asia’s social and economic development has been built. It’s a critical role for the United States, and it’s one that we should play going forward.”

Vice President Biden will arrive in Japan Monday to help calm these tensions.
