(NEW YORK) — The Conference USA championship comes down to Marshall and Rice University on Saturday. Both teams finished 9-3 this season and will play at Rice Stadium in Houston.
Owls head coach David Bailiff knows the Thundering Herd will give his defense all they can handle.
“They’re unbelievable offensively,” Bailiff said of the Marshall offense that is averaging 513 yards of offense per game. “They’ve averaged over 50 points their last five games. They’re really a balanced offense, very productive.”
Meanwhile, Marshall head coach Doc Holiday respects the Owls and coach Bailiff a lot. “They’re leading our league in rushing,” he said. “They’re extremely physical football team, they’re very well coached.”
Holiday added that he has to look out for the Rice defense, which is allowing 350 yards of offense per game this season.
“They got two corners that can play for anybody in the country, the safeties are good players,” Holiday continued. “They get lined up; they don’t make a lot of mistakes.”
