Consumer Reports Ranks Toyota Prius as Top Valued Car

TIM MCCAIG/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — For the second consecutive year, Consumer Reports ranked the Toyota Prius the new-car value.
Consumer Reports says that the Prius is the best vehicle in overall value and the Nissan Armada is the worst value. The report points out that the hybrid Prius is estimated at costing 47 cents per mile.
Comparatively, the Armada — a large SUV — gets just 13 miles per gallon, costing about $1.20 per mile..
Toyota and Lexus models took three of the top ten spots in the Consumer Reports survey. After the Prius, the Toyota Avalon and the Lexus ES 300h rounded out the top-three.
“Just because a car is cheap to buy,” said Consumer Reports‘ Automotive Editor Rik Paul, “doesn’t mean it’s a good value.”
