The ceremony will feature a bible once owned by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and will be attended by both Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Mayor de Blasio worked under both Clintons, as regional director at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development during Bill Clinton’s administration and as a campaign manager in Hillary Clinton’s 2000 campaign for U.S. Senate.

“I was honored to serve in President Clinton’s administration and on Secretary Clinton’s campaign for U.S. Senate, and I am honored again that they will both join our celebration for all of New York City,” de Blasio said in a statement on Saturday.

The Jan. 1 event will take place on the steps of New York’s City Hall.
