(FORT HALL, ID) – The Fort Hall Land Use Commission has dismissed all complaints against Arbon Valley resident David Evans. Evans, who is not a tribal member, owns reservation land that was given to him. He built a home on the property, and tribal authorities wanted Evans to pay building permits or face tens of thousands of dollars in fines. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Evans, citing rules that the tribal land officials have no legal jurisdiction over approximately 200 non-Indian families living on deeded land.
