Plants in Detroit, Flint, Mich., Romulus, Mich., Toledo, Ohio, and Bedford, Ind., will receive funds to help support production of a new V6 engine, new 10-speed transmission and an existing six-speed transmission. The plants will also use the funding for facilities upgrades.

GM said Monday the investment will create or retain approximately 1,000 jobs.

Since 2009, GM has invested $10.1 billion in its U.S. plants. Those funds have created or kept over 26,000 jobs, according to the automaker.
