Charles tied a team record with five total touchdowns as the Kansas City Chiefs rolled over the Oakland Raiders 56 to 31, helping them clinch a playoff berth.

“A big part of this team depends on me,” Charles said. “Once I’m healthy this offense can go a long way and this team can go a long way.”

Alex Smith passed for 287 yards and five scores, with four going to Charles.  The Chiefs (11-3) became the fourth team ever to make the postseason just one year after losing at least 14 games.

“I didn’t do much,” Smith said when asked about Charles’ performance. “I mean three screens for touchdowns. I’ve never been a part of anything like that or seen that.”

Matt McGloin threw four interceptions as the Raiders (4-10) allowed the most points in franchise history.  Oakland was eliminated from postseason contention for the 11th straight season.
