Kerry to Return to Middle East this Week; Will Also Visit Philippines

US Department of State(WASHINGTON) — U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will return to Jerusalem and Ramallah this week to try to rescue Israeli/Palestinian peace talks.
“In Jerusalem, Secretary Kerry will meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu to discuss a range of issues including Iran and the ongoing final status negotiations with the Palestinians,” State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said in a statement. “In Ramallah, Secretary Kerry will meet with President Abbas, where he will also discuss the ongoing final status negotiations, among other issues.”
In meetings in the Middle East last week, Kerry and special envoy Gen. John Allen offered some specific ideas on security under a deal for Palestinian statehood. Kerry has set an aggressive goal of reaching a long-sought deal this spring.
The State Department also said Monday that Kerry will travel to Vietnam and the Philippines, visiting recovery efforts in Tacloban following last month’s devastating typhoon.
