According to ESPN, the Kings will send John Salmons, Grevis Vasquez, Patrick Paterson, and Chuck Hayes while the Raptors will send Gay, Aaron Gray and Quincy Acy.

The Raptors are moving on from Gay less then a year after they acquired him in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies.

This can be viewed as a salary dump for the Raptors as Gay is set to earn $20 million next season in the final year of his deal while three of the players acquired from the Kings will be free agents at season’s end.

“Rudy is a prince of a guy,” Raptors head coach Dwayne Casey said. “He’s an athletic, dynamic wing player; gets to the basket at will; can shoot the ball; handle the ball. We were using him more in a drive situation, pick-and-roll situation. He was growing into that role, doing a better job because he can see over a defense.”

In 18 games this season for the Raptors, Gay averaged 19.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
