Kobe Bryant Could Return Friday

Chris Graythen/Getty Images(EL SEGUNDO, Calif.) — Lakers All-Star Kobe Bryant could be returning sooner than he thought. The team said on Saturday that Bryant could return on Friday in Sacramento if he’s up to it after a week of practice.
Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni said Bryant will use three practice days this week to test himself.
“I don’t want to anticipate anything,” D’Antoni said after practice Saturday. “Those are days that he can work and see, re-evaluate how he feels after the three days and then make a decision going forward.
“That doesn’t mean he will play Friday, doesn’t mean he won’t. But that’s the time you just evaluate, and I can’t tell you what type of evaluation that will be.”
Bryant was sidelined last season after he ruptured an Achilles tendon that’s kept him out since April 12.
Los Angeles has no games on their schedule after they play the Trail Blazers today. The latest news comes after Bryant signed a two-year $48.5 million extension last week.
