(NEW YORK) — Notre Dame will be without leading scorer Jerian Grant for the remainder of the season because of an “academic matter,” according to the team’s website.
“I take full responsibility for my lack of good judgment and the poor decision that I made. I have no one to blame but myself for the situation,” Grant said Sunday in a statement “I know and understand the expectations that go with being a student at Notre Dame and I did not live up to those standards.”
Grant is a huge loss for Notre Dame, (8-4) who is entering its first season in the ACC. Grant said he intends to to return to Notre Dame as soon as possible following the spring 2014 semester. If he is readmitted for next year, it would be his fifth season playing basketball for the school.
The senior guard was averaging 19 points and 6.2 rebounds this season for the Irish.
