The Ducks (11-2) dominated from start to finish, but the win was overshadowed by Mack Brown coaching his final game for Texas.

Brown resigned earlier this month after a rough season at the school.  He led the Longhorns (8-5) to a national championship in 2005, but the program has struggled ever since.  He has been the coach at Texas for 16 seasons and agreed to stay with the team until the conclusion of the Alamo Bowl.

“I think it’s best for Texas. It’s best for me, it’s best for the players,” he said. “We need to win more than eight games. Last year was nine. I really thought we had a chance to win all the games this year. It didn’t work. It’s my job to make that work. I told them tonight, the only regret I had is we didn’t win enough games this year.”

Oregon returned two Case McCoy interceptions for touchdowns.  Texas running back Malcolm Brown finished with 26 carries for 130 yards.

The Ducks entered the month of November undefeated and ranked No. 2 in the nation.  A loss to Stanford crushed their national championship hopes, but they are primed to contend in 2014 with Mariota deciding to return to school for his senior year.
