It’s awkward and makes confrontation almost unavoidable, no matter who’s in the seat. But what do you do when the interloper is controversial Toronto Mayor Rob Ford?

Canadian singer-songwriter Matt Mays claims he found himself in this predicament Sunday at an annual Buffalo Bills NFL game played in Toronto against the Atlanta Falcons. He was at the Rogers Centre in a blue Bills jersey with the name and number of running back Fred Jackson on it.

Mays claimed that the mayor was sitting in his seat and took the problem to Twitter.

“We all wish we could boot him from office,” one person tweeted in response. “At least you can boot him from your seat. Do it.”

“After seeing him tackle that old lady at the city council meeting, I’m not so sure,” another person responded.

The situation was eventually resolved, according to Mays, but he didn’t give any details on how it went down.

Mays did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ford, 44, has been at the center of a controversy questioning his leadership after police revealed they had obtained a videotape of the mayor smoking crack cocaine and he later confessed to using the drug. Most of his staff has quit, but the mayor has refused to step down.
