That Time Snoop Dogg Fist-Pounded John Kerry

David Livingston/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — In a video recently posted on Instagram by Snoop Dogg that was punctuated by a fist-pound, Secretary of State John Kerry and Snoop can be heard having a brief conversation about hip-hop at a White House reception for the Kennedy Center Honors on Dec. 8.
“He invented your whole thing,” Kerry tells Snoop at the beginning of the video’s audible portion.
“He invented hip-hop,” Snoop replies.
The two then pound. An unmistakable Joe Biden chimes in, off-camera: “Oooh, he gave you the pound!”
A rendition of Billy Joel’s “She’s Always a Woman to Me” can be heard playing in the background. (Joel was one of this year’s Kennedy Center honorees.)
It’s unclear which hip-hop inventor Kerry and Snoop were talking about, but the State Department confirmed the exchange happened at the Kennedy Center event.
“Boss life. me n john kerry at d white house !!! #reincarnated #khc,” Snoop wrote on his Instagram account.
“It’s safe to say that between the two of them, they’ve sold 30 million records,” State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.
