Thousands Rally to Pay Their Respects to Paul Walker

ROBYN BECK/AFP/Getty Images(VALENCIA, Calif.) — A crowd estimated to be in the thousands paid their respects Sunday night for Fast and the Furious series star Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas, a week and a day after the pair were killed in a fiery car crash in Valencia, Calif.
Friends, fans, and family members flocked to the scene of the crash, and a parade of souped-up cars drove by the site to honor the actor and gearhead.
Walker, 40, performed many death-defying stunts behind the wheel in the Fast films, but was a passenger when Rodas, 38, lost control of the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT on Nov. 30.
Cops in Santa Clarita tweeted just before 1:30 p.m. that cars were “backed up for miles” near the “unofficial” memorial. The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department tweeted a picture of a massive queue of fans, along with the caption, “There are more people than parking spaces at unofficial Paul Walker Memorial.”
Rick Yune, one of Walker’s co-stars in the original The Fast and the Furious in 2001, was among those mourners on hand.
“We mourn his loss, but maybe we can just remember how great a guy this guy was and celebrate his life,” he said.
Speed was said to be a factor in the crash, but not street racing, according to investigators. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
