(FORT HALL, ID) – The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes have released a statement about last week’s shooting involving a Bannock County Sheriff’s Deputy. Officials called the shooting a “legitimate cause for concern” because the officer in question was involved in a case requiring deadly force in the recent past.  Thirty-three-year-old tribal member Kevin Toane led deputies in a high speed chase north of Chubbuck last week that ended in a shooting on the reservation. The Tribes allege that the county is obstructing their investigation by refusing to release critical details about the incident, and denying tribal police from taking video or photographs at the scene.
