Beltran was heavily sought after around Major League Baseball, and even turned down a more lucrative offer from the Arizona Diamondbacks. In the end though, he decided to continue his career in Yankee pin-stripes.

The 36-year-old Beltran may be getting up there in age, but he’s still priving to be an above-average outfielder.

While playing for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2013, Beltran hit .296 with 24 home runs and 84 RBIs.

After struggling to score many runs in 2013, the Yankees have revamped their lineup this offseason. Even though they lost second baseman Robinson Cano to the Seattle Mariners, they have spent close to $300 million this offseason to sign catcher Brian McCann, outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, and now Beltran.

Beltran is no stranger to New York. He played for the New York Mets from 2005-2011.
