Oklahoma freshman quarterback Trevor Knight was the story of the game for the Sooners. He completed a Sugar Bowl-record 32 passes for 348 yards and four touchdowns.

“It’s huge for our program, to get a win like this after no one gave us a chance all year,” Knight said. “We’ve got to ride this into next year. We can’t settle with this. …We want the big one.”

Despite coming into the game with one of the best defenses in the nation, Oklahoma shredded the Tide’s defense as they totaled 439 yards en route to the win.

For Alabama, the loss puts an end to quarterback A.J. McCarron’s time with the program. He completed 19 of 30 passes for 387 yards and threw two touchdowns, but he also threw two interceptions.

“Put it all on me. I had two turnovers, (Oklahoma) ended up scoring 14 points and we lost by 14,” McCarron said after the game.

McCarron was sacked just 10 times during the season leading up to the game, but the Sooners managed to sack McCarron seven times during the game.
