(2) Syracuse Holds UNC to Lowest Point Total Since 1997 in Win
Published at(SYRACUSE, N.Y.) — Syracuse held North Carolina to its lowest point total since 1997, as the No. 2 Orange shutdown the Tar Heels, 57-45 Saturday.
Syracuse (16-0), which won despite shooting 35 percent from the field, held UNC 2-for-12 from behind the 3-point arc.
“This was a defensive-effort game,” Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim said. “We got loose balls. We made a lot of really good hustle plays. We got on the floor. That was the difference.”
C.J. Fair did as well scoring a game-high 20 points and grabbing eight rebounds in the win.
North Carolina was outmatched on the offensive glass with Syracuse outrebounding them 17-10.
Marcus Paige scored 17 points for North Carolina (10-6) in the loss.
