Roy Devin Marble scored 22 points for the Hawkeyes (14-3) who picked up their first road win of the season.

The Buckeyes (15-2) held a 53-44 lead with 12:49 remaining in the second half but Iowa scored 11 of the next 13 to tie the contest at 55-55 just over two minutes later. The contest continued to go back and forth with Ohio State taking a three point advantage with less than seven minutes to play.

That was when the Hawkeyes made their move. Trailing by one, Jarrod Uthoff hit a running layup with 4:55 on the clock to give Iowa a 66-65 lead that they would not relinquish. After another Uthoff basket, and a forced turnover, Marble hit two free throws that made it a 70-65 edge. Ohio State could not get back into the contest, dropping their second consecutive game after falling on the road to (5) Michigan State earlier in the week.

With the win, Iowa snapped an eight game losing streak to the Buckeyes and picked up their first win in Columbus since 2004. It was also the Hawkeyes’ first victory over a top 5 team since defeating No. 2 Missouri on the road in 2001.
