Avalanche Injures Snowmobiler

(MONTPELIER, ID) – One person was hospitalized after three snowmobilers were caught in an avalanche in Bear Lake County Saturday afternoon. Officials with the Bear Lake County sheriff’s office say three men were riding in Green Canyon east of St. Charles when the snow around them broke loose. One of the men suffered a broken arm and severely injured his legs. Avalanches have been prevalent in the region over the past month. On Dec. 26, an Arco snowmobiler was killed in a slide near Palisades Peak. That same day, another avalanche took the life of a skier in Jackson Hole.
