Bobby Abreu Back with Phillies
Published at(PHILADELPHIA) — Bobby Abreu is a Phillie again.
The 39-year-old outfielder signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday.
Abreu, who played with the Phillies from 1998-2006, can make up to $800,000 if he makes the big league club.
Abreu hasn’t played in the majors since 2012, when he was a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The two-time All-Star has been playing winter ball in Venezuela, where he is hitting .322 with three home runs and 28 RBIs for Leones del Caracas.
During his 17-year major league career, Abreu has hit .292 hitter with 287 home runs, 1,441 runs scored, 399 stolen bases and a .396 on-base percentage.
