“Besides being one of our favorite guests…you are the most-canceled guest we’ve ever had,” Leno told Sheen.

Leno pointed out that it wasn’t the show that canceled; it was Sheen, himself, who often came up with repeat excuses for why he had to bow out at the last moment.

Leno noted that Sheen often called and said he was having his wisdom teeth removed.  Leno remarked, “You had your wisdom teeth pulled four times.”  Sheen acknowledged using the same excuse and added, “I had 16 wisdom teeth.”

Sheen said he has been a guest on Leno’s Tonight Show 22 times over the past 21 years.  He thanked the host for his support.

“You have welcomed me and…supported me with absolute respect and nobility…,” Sheen said.  The actor’s first appearance came in 1993 when he was promoting the movie The Three Musketeers.  He played Aramis.

The actor briefly talked about his FX series Anger Management and took at shot at former cast member Selma Blair, who had played the therapist of Sheen’s character on the show until she was fired last June in the wake of a reported feud with the star.  She was replaced by Laura Bell Bundy.

Sheen apparently still harbors harsh feelings for Blair.  He told Leno, “Laura Bell Bundy who has replaced slime, I’m sorry, Selma Blair, uh, you’ll probably cut that out…has just elevated the show to a whole different level.”

At the end of his interview, Sheen said he has always received standing ovations during his Tonight Show appearances and he asked the members of the studio audience Wednesday night to give one to Leno.  They did.

Leno’s final Tonight Show is Feb. 6.
