Paul suffered the injury after crashing to the floor in the third quarter during the team’s win over the Dallas Mavericks Friday night.

Paul is having an MVP-caliber season with the Clippers this year, and it will be tough to replace his production. The 28-year-old Paul is averaging 19.6 points per game and an NBA-leading 11.2 assists per game.

“It’s going to be tough because he’s our engine,” Clippers’ point guard Darren Collison said. “He’s our leader. He does a lot for us. But at the same time, this team is very talented. We have the depth to overcome this. We’re only hoping that CP comes back as soon as possible.”

Collison is expected to see an increase in playing time with Paul out of action. This season, he’s averaging 8.5 points and 2.1 assists per game.
